“Caraway Cooking Class” is a tribute to my 96 year old Granma ( Fatima).
Discover the secrets of Indonesian food with Dewi and her team. Explore the exciting cooking techniques and myths of the unique culture, followed by an array of recipes from the various islands of Indonesia.These recipes are called the Indonesian archipelago cuisine.
Most of the recipes are Fatima’s, but more importantly is the traditional methods and her inspirational love for cooking which inspired me at an early age.
Firstly, a tour of the local market, to buy fresh produce, what to look for, and to hone bargaining skills. In the cooking class you will be shown how to prepare dishes, from initially grinding spices to making pastes, preparation of ingredients, culminating in fragrant traditional foods.
Next to devour the fruits of your labor. You won’t be disappointed.
In a relaxed atmosphere you will be able to lunch on the delights of Indonesian and Bali cuisine.
Curries, wraps, soups, desserts, vegetarian and meat dishes are all a part of your delightful day’s experience.
Participants learn about herbs and exotic spices used daily in Indonesian cuisine and are encouraged to interact and assist in the preparation of the daily menu. An introduction to traditional herbs drink made from spices such as turmeric, ginger, tamarind and kencur is promoted on the day.
Cooking classes are held in Sanur most days.
